GLACUHO Scholarships

ACUHO-I first time Attendee Professional Development Scholarship
Complete the ACUHO-I scholarship online form

Through the ACUHO-I foundation GLACUHO has been given a $1,000 scholarship to provide to a housing professional who has never attended the ACUHO-I annual conference. One applicant from the GLACUHO region will be selected to receive this scholarship money to utilize for their costs associated with the ACUHO-I annual conference. Please pass this information along to any professionals who will be attending their first ACUHO-I Conference.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to apply:
• Be a first time ACUHO-I Annual Conference attendee
• Be from a GLACUHO member institution and have responsibilities in any housing area (dining services, residence life, apartments, marketing, facilities, operations, technology)
• Be a full time professional in the housing field
• Demonstration of how this opportunity will be used in their current position
• GLACUHO involvement
• Submit a article to the Trends magazine about their experience or presentation drive in conference
• Commitment to GLACUHO core values

Application Procedures:
• Submit a completed application to your State Delegate (online or paper format)
• Submit a letter of support from your direct supervisor along with your application

Expenses that may be covered by the scholarship (cannot exceed $1000):
• Travel costs (flight or $0.40 per mile)
• Conference Registration
• Hotel costs
• Food

Timeline:
• Application information available by April 1, 2006.
• Applications due by April 21, 2006.
• Recipient selected notified by April 27, 2006.

Scholarship Selection:
• The State Delegates will review all applications.
• Based upon the established point system, each application will be scored by each State Delegate.
• The application with the highest overall score will be recommended as the recipient of the scholarship.
• The GLACUHO President will review the recommendation and have final approval.

GLACUHO NEW SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP

In an effort to encourage participation in GLACUHO, college and universities not currently active in GLACUHO are encouraged to apply for a Conference Registration Fee Waiver. One institution from the GLACUHO region will be selected to receive this scholarship money to utilize for one conference registration waiver. Preference will be given to institutions from the state in which the conference is being held. However if no school from the conference state applies the scholarship can be awarded to another institution.

Institutions must meet the following criteria to apply:
• Not have been active in GLACUHO during the past 3 years may apply for the scholarship. An active institution will be defined by annual conference attendance, drive in workshop attendance, holding committee or board positions.
• Be an institution from the GLACUHO region (Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Ohio)
• Be a contributing member of an institution’s housing program

Application Procedures:
• Submit a completed application to your State Delegate
• Have completed application materials mailed/e-mailed/faxed to your State Delegate by TBD.

GLACUHO NEWCOMER’S PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SCHOLARSHIP

In an effort to encourage participation in GLACUHO, new professionals are encouraged to apply for a $150 professional development scholarship. Four applicants from the GLACUHO region will be selected to receive this scholarship money to utilize for professional development purposes. Please pass this information along to new professionals who will be attending their first GLACUHO Conference.

Applicants must meet the following criteria to apply:
• Be a first time GLACUHO Annual Fall Conference attendee
• Be from a GLACUHO member institution
• Be a contributing member of an institution’s housing, residence life, or dining service department

Application Procedures:
• Submit a completed application and letter of support from your direct supervisor to your State Delegate
• Have completed application materials mailed/e-mailed/faxed to your State Delegate by TBD.
